A Nighttime Glance at The Most Beautiful Village in Germany

My German host family has taken me to spend the next three days on the Mosel River in Traben Trarbach, Germany. We made the three hour journey from Gelsenkirchen late last night, but that did not stop us from making a stop along the way. We popped into a little village called Monreal--population 852. Apparently 15 years ago it was awarded the title of most beautiful village in all of Europe. Please excuse my remarkably amateur photography skills, but my lack of skill aside, the village is too pretty not to share.

The crisp mountain air mixed with the shrinking light of dusk made the town feel enchanted. In the 40 minutes we spent there, we saw maybe one or two other people. On crossing a little brook we encountered a frog, and it seemed a very real possibility that it was in fact a prince in disguise. I didn't kiss him, but I probably should have. Now we're headed to Luxembourg for the day! From one fairytale land to another! More to come! Tschüss!!!
